Barney DuBois
Barney DuBois of Memphis, Tennessee, is a veteran journalist and fixture in Memphis media circles since the 1960s, when he was a reporter and editor for The Commercial Appeal. He was founding editor of the Memphis Business Journal and co-founder of the Nashville Business Journal, becoming publisher and CEO of their parent company until it was sold in 1997. After an eight-year retirement, DuBois re-emerged in 2005 as CEO in Residence at the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis. After that, he spent time with Howell McQuain Strategies, marketing and public relations strategy firm, where his clients included the Memphis Grizzlies. "I retired too early," DuBois says. "I'm ready to get out there and get the blood boiling again."
